About

This lecture series examines literature from a gastronomic perspective: how food helps to understand the era, the characters of the heroes, and the hidden meanings of the text that can easily be missed during regular reading and then joyfully rediscovered. The lectures are led by Yakov Mozaev - a gastronomic expert, writer, and restaurant critic, who knows how to tell stories that captivate. His method is simple: take a detail from a feast in a book - a dish, a drink, a random remark at dinner - and show how much meaning is hidden in it. Sometimes this detail holds an entire chapter, it’s just that no one has looked at it from this angle before. If you put all the gastronomic details of the book together, you get a separate map - a parallel plot that ran alongside the main text and escaped attention. Mozaev knows how to find such maps and unfold them before the listeners. Ideas on where to go in Yekaterinburg are collected on our website.
