Timur Shaov in Israel - "It Would Be Good to Become a Jew!"

He is called "the last bard", and, for the most part, this is true. Since Timur Shaov appeared on the horizon of authorial song, no stars of such brightness and scale have flared up. Today he is an undisputed classic of the genre. It is difficult to define the genre in which Timur Shaov performs. It is called musical stand-up, "musical Zhvanetsky". The great fantasist Boris Strugatsky compared his work to the songs of Galich and Yuli Kim, and Kim himself - to the songs of Vysotsky and the same Galich. He writes both traditional author songs, in which rock and roll notes and national motifs appear, as well as romances, ballads, and masterful stylizations of urban folklore. Over the years, he has been invited as a guest on programs by Mikhail Veller and Viktor Topaller, Andrey Maximov and Svetlana Sorokina, he has been interviewed by Dmitry Bykov and Lev Anninsky. Such interest in Timur Shaov is due to the fact that he is not only a talented author-performer but also a wise, unexpected, paradoxical interlocutor who never searches for words in his pocket. Shaov has not been overlooked by numerous awards: "Golden Ostap", "Chanson of the Year", the 12 Chairs Club Literary Newspaper Award, the Vysotsky Foundation Award "Bard of Russia". Some might say that the range is too wide, but in fact, this means that Shaov's audience, who loves his songs, is extraordinarily broad. Today, there is probably no other such sought-after author as Timur Shaov. He has a tight touring schedule filled for several years ahead, and he is wanted to be seen and heard in America, Australia, Germany, France, Canada, and of course, Israel. He has not performed in our country for several years, and the audience has missed him. He has missed them too - not for nothing is the program with which he arrives in November.
