A night at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées transforms into an open conversation between two legends: fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and composer Igor Stravinsky. In the dim light of the empty hall, they argue, reminisce, wound, and support each other, testing the boundaries of love, freedom, and creativity, while music alters the course of their destinies. Paris in the forties is frozen between anxiety and anticipation, and it is precisely at this point in history that the new production transports the audience. On stage, two figures who have become cultural symbols meet: Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and Igor Stravinsky. Their dialogue is born in the empty hall of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, where the echo of the orchestra and the rumble of war can still be heard. Instead of a dry chronicle, the creators build a lively conversation full of irony, pain, and unexpected confessions. Chanel comes from the world of fashion and the strict discipline of her own style. Stravinsky brings the world of scores, the scandalous premiere of "The Rite of Spring," and the inner stubbornness of a man used to going against the conservative public. The production shows two people who make mistakes, quarrel, seek support, and still return to music and work. Director Talgat Batalov constructs the action as a chain of memory flashes and character clashes. An important role belongs to the Watchman, whose simple remarks sound like comments from an outsider. At certain moments, the figure of Sergei Diaghilev intervenes in the story, reminding how the artistic adventures of the early century influenced those who found themselves at the intersection of fashion, ballet, and avant-garde music. The scenography and lighting emphasize that the heroes live in a world of contrasts. The geometry of the set echoes the succinctness of the silhouettes associated with the House of Chanel. The actors' plasticity and choreographic fragments refer to the rhythms of "The Rite of Spring" and the pulse of a city that already feels the approach of catastrophe. Musical phrases grow from silence and are interrupted, as if an unfinished conversation. The acting duo becomes a separate line of attraction.
