About

The performance connects the music of Terry Riley, live movement, voice, and audience participation into a single experience, where the boundary between the stage and the hall becomes fluid. Minimalism here is felt as a way to live the rhythm with the body, to listen to the shared breath, and to become part of a collective action. At the core of this project is Terry Riley's score "In C", one of the main works of American minimalism. Its structure seems almost ascetic: just one page and fifty-three melodic fragments. But it is precisely in this external simplicity that enormous freedom is hidden. The musicians keep to a common rhythm, but they decide for themselves when to transition from one element to another and how to shape the overall flow of the music. Because of this, each performance is born anew and is never completely predictable. The creators of the performance develop this idea in the space of body, voice, and collective presence. The dance part is built around processuality, vitality, and togetherness - qualities that are rarely felt so acutely in a regular spectator mode. Here, observation gradually ceases to be the only form of participation. At some point, the audience is invited to engage in what is happening, to feel the musical structure physically, and to experience it through their own perception. This is where the main strength of the project lies. It is interesting not only to lovers of contemporary choreography or minimalist music but also to anyone who values a live artistic experience without ready-made templates for reaction. Instead of a distance between the artist and the audience, a situation of shared attention arises, where sound, gesture, breath, and movement begin to work as a unified system. This format requires focus and inner courage, but it is precisely because of this that the experience becomes particularly personal and profound. For those who want to engage with the material even more closely, an additional practice is provided before the evening part. Participants are offered a brief introduction to Riley's composition, followed by physical and vocal work under the guidance of the choreographer.
