With her distinctive musical language that skilfully blends her pan-Arab roots with pop, poetic lyrics, electronic music, soul and guitar-driven melodies, Yasmine Hamdan first made her mark on the music scene with the pioneering Beirut indie electro duo Soapkills, which she co-founded with Zeid Hamdan in the late 1990s. After moving to Paris in 2005, she collaborated with Madonna’s producer, Mirwais, on the project Y.A.S., releasing the album Arabology in 2009-a record both elegant and crafted for the clubs. Since then, she has gained international recognition as a singer-songwriter and solo producer, weaving together a rich blend of influences. Having also worked with filmmakers such as Elia Suleiman and Jim Jarmusch, Hamdan released her third album I remember I forget بنسى وبتذكر, centering on her “connection to Lebanon and what has happened to it”, in 2025. Yasmine Hamdan will perform at Zorlu PSM 100% Studio on the evening of October 10 as part of the first-ever collaboration between the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival and Zorlu PSM.
