The play is based on the eponymous work by Leonid Filatov. Fedot serves as an archer at the royal court. One day, while out hunting, he meets a beautiful maiden, whom he soon takes as his wife. The king learns about the young beauty and, wanting to possess her, orders Fedot to embark on a deadly dangerous mission. The hero returns unharmed, and then the king plays his last card: he orders to bring "What-Cannot-Be." Leonid Filatov's work was published in the 1980s.
