A madhouse that transcends the boundaries of a single building and even a city, brought to the stage by Lev Dodin. The action of the play unfolds in a conditional space, in the backyard of a psychiatric hospital, cluttered with old bathtubs. This place is fenced off from the hall by a wrought-iron grille, behind which Doctor Ragin enters, never to return. In Lev Dodin's play, the audience will not find modernization aimed at making Anton Chekhov's concept more understandable.
