EventRuggero Leoncavallo's opera about jealousy, deception, and murder has been transferred by director Hans-Joachim Frey to the set of silent films from the 1910s. The verismo opera was staged at the Bolshoi Theatre five times. In 2024, it returned to the repertoire after more than a forty-year hiatus. The libretto by Ruggero Leoncavallo is based on a real court case that his father handled. The action of Hans-Joachim Frey's production takes place on a film set of the early 20th century: the artists of the film company rehearse a comedy while a real drama unfolds off-screen. Actor Canio catches his wife with a lover and is forced to play a comedian with a broken heart. The boundary between role and reality blurs, and the ending turns out to be tragic for everyone. The theatrical poster of Moscow is presented on KUDAGO.
