EventJealousy, betrayal, and late remorse - a plot that never gets old. A collaboration between maestro Valery Gergiev and director Giancarlo del Monaco. Giuseppe Verdi took on "Otello" after a long creative silence, working on the libretto together with Arrigo Boito. The premiere in 1887 at La Scala in Milan brought resounding success: the score amazed with its impeccable form and depth of psychological characterization - not only in the singers' parts but also in the orchestra, revealing the hidden intentions of the characters. Director Giancarlo del Monaco deliberately refrained from specific historical coordinates: jealousy, malice, and betrayal are not phenomena of the past, but constants of human existence. The set design was created by Spanish artist Antonio Romero and costume designer Gabriela Salaverri. Posters of theaters in Moscow are available on KUDAGO.
