ConcertsPianist Andrey Zimovets and his sextet reinterpret Tchaikovsky's cycle in a jazz style. At the core of the program is the famous piano cycle by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, one of the most recognizable examples of Russian classical music. Andrey Zimovets approaches these pieces as a jazz pianist and arranger. On stage with him will be an ensemble that includes musicians playing trombone, trumpet, double bass, drums, and tenor saxophone. A special interest of the evening lies in the collision of two performing traditions. Tchaikovsky's music is built on precise form, expressive melody, and subtle work with mood, while jazz adds an element of unpredictability and live dialogue between the members of the sextet. Our website features the current program of Saint Petersburg.
