"Megapolis" returns to Yekaterinburg with a program that connects nearly forty years of musical history and new material. Intellectual indie rock, subtle lyrics, and complex arrangements will sound alongside songs from the album "With the Strength of a Thread" - a bright record about hope, fragility, and inner resilience. Oleg Nesterov's band returns to the Yeltsin Center after several years. Over nearly four decades, the ensemble has evolved from a notable Moscow band of the late 1980s to one of the most recognizable representatives of Russian indie rock. In its music, melodiousness coexists with complex arrangements, and the lyrics demand attentive listening and rarely boil down to unambiguous emotions. The musicians' first wide success came with the song "Poor Girl." In the 1990s, albums "Women's Heart" and "Megapolis" were released, followed by works "From the Life of Planets" and "Super Tango." During this time, the band toured extensively, changed its sound, and maintained its own intonation - restrained, intellectual, and recognizable from the first notes. An important part of the program will be material from the album "With the Strength of a Thread," released in 2025 after five years of work. Oleg Nesterov describes this record as a conversation about light and hope, strength and weakness, fragility and the ability to withstand changes. The release received the "Made in Russia - 2025" award in the "Music" category and was included in collections of notable domestic albums of the year. The performance takes place as part of the program "August '91. 35 Years Later," dedicated to reflecting on the events of August 1991. The musical part here becomes a way to return to the feeling of a turning point when the public demand for freedom and change defined the mood of an entire country. Songs from different periods allow us to hear how the language, hopes, and internal guidelines of several generations changed. The evening will suit long-time fans of the band, listeners of Russian rock and the indie scene, as well as those who want to get acquainted with the later works of the musicians.
