Simeon ten Holt is one of the most important representatives of European minimalism in the second half of the 20th century. In Russia, his name is known to few, but this is where the intrigue of the evening lies - the audience will hear a piece that has not previously been performed on the domestic stage. "Horizon" was written in 1983 and is part of the series of the composer's "large" works alongside "Canto Ostinato" and "Lemniscate." It is a poem for two or more pianos, which has no fixed length: the four layers of material are freely varied, alternated, and transformed by the pianists. The result is a sound that cannot be confined to boundaries; it sometimes slips away, sometimes returns, and sometimes seems to hover on the edge of audibility. The piece will be performed by Vladimir Rakiyevsky and Pavel Dombrovsky - musicians with extensive academic and concert experience.
