Since 2017, 25-year old Brooklyn-based musician and polymath Jhariah Clare (he/they), who records and releases music as Jhariah, has been building a thrilling, fiercely original musical universe. For some, his work would be shocking and transgressive in its disregard for the strict frameworks of genre; for others, it is transcendent and right, evidence of a new epoch of music that, like its creators, doesn’t play by the restrictive social and cultural rules that govern our modern communities.
