What is growing out of the ground? EFEU - the Viennese indie band with roots somewhere between melancholy and moshpit: powerful, driving, and straight to the point. With youthful urban clarity, EFEU tells stories of self-doubt, new beginnings, overwhelm, and the desire for authenticity in a time when everything becomes more elusive. Between anger in the belly and poetry in the head, catchy songs emerge that support, provoke, and sometimes even intentionally hurt. EFEU was founded in the summer of 2022. Following the first single, in 2023, came the two EPs "Alle" and "Kein Glanz". With their releases came the first concerts in Austria and Germany. Their debut album titled "EGAL" was released last year, in the fall of 2024. Impulse without a second thought is the driving force behind the new release. EFEU stands for music they themselves love to listen to: guitar rock, bluesy emotion, and driving (post-)punk. EFEU - 6 exiled Viennese - write with love in a collective. Only with instruments in hand and surrendering to the vibe. The writing process is also often accompanied by live shows. Thus, often only sketches or still unfinished songs were presented. It is always interesting to seek the audience's response to incorporate these insights into the creative process. EFEU is the spearhead of a new Viennese scene that understands boundaries not as obstacles but as play space - a band that does not sound like trends but like themselves. After several celebrated singles, an album, wild concert nights, and intense tour moments, EFEU has earned a reputation that extends far beyond the scene. And those who think German-speaking indie music has become too smooth should listen closely.
