Children will learn about those who live by the water: why some birds confidently float on the surface while others wander in shallow waters, and how the feathered creatures obtain their meals. Life by the water is always bustling: some glide across the surface, some cautiously step in shallow waters, some dive for prey, or search for food among the plants. This children's workshop will help explore this world up close and understand why birds have adapted so differently to life near rivers, ponds, and lakes. The kids will discover what species can be found by the water, what they eat, and how they obtain their food. Staff from the eco-center "Losiny Ostrov" will explain why some birds swim well while others prefer to walk on the shallows, and how body shape, legs, beaks, and behaviors help them survive. The host, Svetlana Kazakova, will show the children books about birds of Russia. The workshop is designed for children aged 6 to 12.
