The Winter Festival in Sochi, led by Yuri Bashmet, is one of the key musical forums in the country. World-class musicians and artists perform here, current trends in art are formed, and intercultural exchange of experience takes place. This year, the audience can expect a large-scale program featuring first-class stars. Yuri Bashmet, an altoist, conductor, and educator, always strives to unite different forms of art and build bridges between various genres and directions: classical music and jazz, opera, ballet, and drama, music and visual art. The festival in Sochi under his artistic direction has become one of the hallmarks of the country. The festival in Sochi is not only a series of diverse concerts and performances but also educational projects, competitions, and conferences. In other words, the festival is a whole creative laboratory, within which a unique Russian perspective on contemporary performing arts is developed. The organizers have prepared an impressive program, where every art lover can expect new discoveries and revelations. Among the foreign guests are groups from China, Italy, Cuba, and the Republic of South Africa. Dozens of concerts are planned, featuring classical music from different eras, folk music, jazz, and ballet performances. And, of course, bright surprises from star musicians, dazzling duets, and an atmosphere of a grand celebration of art are expected. The festival will open with the premiere of Polina Agureeva's play "About Love (5 Poods of Love, 22 Misfortunes, 33 Hysterics)" based on the works of Anton Chekhov. The production features well-known actors from theater and cinema, as well as the ensemble "Soloists of Moscow" led by Yuri Bashmet. Among the premieres are "Poor People" with Evgeny Mironov, a play based on Dostoevsky's novel directed by Murat Abulkatinov, and the musical accompaniment will also be performed by the "Soloists of Moscow". The Italian group La Magnifica Comunità will bring the baroque opera "The Village Philosopher" by composer Baldassare Galuppi. The Vuyani Dance Theatre from South Africa will present a unique contemporary performance.
