From October 25 to November 5, the XIX International Animation Festival "Big Cartoon Festival" will take place at the "Illusion" cinema, where masters and innovators, classics and experiments, children's dreams and adult meanings meet. The "Big Cartoon Festival" is the largest animation showcase in Russia, uniting authors from all over the world for the 19th year. The festival has long become an important platform for directors, artists, and viewers who see animation not as entertainment, but as a full-fledged art form. Every year it opens new names and shows films that have gained recognition at the largest film festivals worldwide. The 2025 program is particularly diverse. It includes international and national competitions, special screenings, and premieres. Among them is the sensation of the spring Moscow Film Festival "Restlessness" by Leonid Shmelkov and the "Sharl" studio - a disturbing and captivating story about a man stuck in a mysterious hotel where guests disappear. Special screenings will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of composer Gennady Gladkov, whose music has long been an integral part of domestic animation. Each festival screening turns into a journey through worlds and styles: from touching stories and philosophical parables to visual experiments. On screen, paintings created by artists from different countries come to life. Guests can expect not only screenings but also lectures, meetings with directors, master classes, and discussions. Details about the festival can be found on the cinema's website.
