Traditional Indonesian shadow theater with live music and heroes from the epic "Mahabharata." On the International Wayang Day, the Foreign Literature Library invites you to a unique event - a performance by the "Gamelan Dadali" ensemble at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. This evening will be the culmination of Indonesian Culture Days in Moscow. The audience will witness wayang kulit - traditional Indonesian shadow theater, where the silhouettes of puppets come to life on a glowing screen accompanied by gamelan music. This is one of the oldest theatrical traditions in the world, combining drama, music, puppetry, and philosophical depth. The wayang will be performed in Javanese with a parallel translation into Russian. The main character of the play is Gatotkaca, a mythical warrior from the "Mahabharata," symbolizing strength, loyalty, and tragic fate. The story of his struggles, feats, and moral choices resonates today as much as it did centuries ago.
