At Belova art gallery, an imaginary table is set: in three halls, paintings, ceramics, graphics, videos, and installations gather around one object to tell about the memory of meetings and family rituals. How often do we gaze at the familiar table where we eat, work, and chat on the phone? Curator Alisa Basova has gathered in one space the works of 29 artists from different cities in Russia - from Kazan to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Paintings, ceramics, graphics, videos, and installations show the table in all its possible roles: it is sometimes a quiet witness to family celebrations, sometimes a working surface where sketches, letters, and projects are born, and sometimes an almost theatrical stage where the most important lines freeze. Some works remind us of noisy gatherings, while others capture the aftertaste - empty cups, crumpled tablecloths, forgotten details that hint at the character of the hosts and their guests.
