About

Oksana Stogova analyzes famous works based on color ratios and reassembles them into abstract compositions. Over 40 pieces turn the history of art into an experiment with memory, attention, and viewer associations. One part of the project is organized as a color laboratory. Oksana Stogova selects a well-known canvas, determines the proportion of each pigment, and translates the result into a square of vertical stripes. The plot, figures, and perspective disappear, leaving the exact color formula of the work. This method helps to see what often eludes during regular viewing. For example, the "Mona Lisa" turns out to be significantly darker than remembered: attention is usually held by the face and hands of the Mona Lisa, while the overall color scheme recedes into the background. In the adjacent hall, a different principle operates. The artist creates homages to famous paintings, preserving their color structure but replacing the recognizable scene with intersections of lines and abstract forms. These compositions have grown from years of playing with visual coincidences and test how reliably the viewer remembers the original. Most plots are presented in pairs: a symbolic interpretation is compared with an analytical color square. Between the halls, a route for independent exploration emerges - one can identify a work by its palette, check the first guess, and compare the impression with the calculation.
