The exhibition shows how the same place can be a border, a refuge, or a point of attraction - depending on time and human experience. The exhibition offers a new perspective on the fortress, revealing it through a series of images related to history, urban rhythm, and personal experiences of people. The focus is on three thematic acts that help to see the space from different angles - as a border, as a place of solitude, and as a point of mutual attraction. Each act features items reflecting the life of the island in different eras - from archaeological finds to objects related to the daily practices of modern residents. A significant part of the exhibition is built around the stories of people who have been connected to the fortress for many years. The curators have gathered stories from archaeologists, a gardener, a watchmaker, a carillonneur, a walrus, and a diver. These stories create an image of a living space where the memory of several generations is preserved in things, gestures, and sounds. Next to the items from museum collections, objects from the personal collections of the heroes are presented, emphasizing the continuity of human presence on the island. Visual objects are complemented by images created by neural networks: they form associative series and rhymes, comparing the past and the present. Specifically for the project, Oleg Gudachev composed three pieces - one for each act, and the music becomes part of the overall exploration of the space. Visitors are invited to use different ways of perception - to observe, listen, interact, to feel what role the fortress plays in the life of the city and what its future may hold.
