A large retrospective reveals the work of an artist who operated at the intersection of symbolism, photography, and the synthesis of arts. The exhibition features paintings, sketches, and iconic works from museum and private collections. Victor Borisov-Musatov is often associated with the Silver Age and a subtle symbolist intonation. However, behind this recognizable poetic quality stands an active artist who constantly changed his method, worked with memory, light, movement, and kept an eye on new artistic possibilities. One of the important themes of the exhibition is the connection between his painting and photography. Photo studies and photo sketches become part of the creative laboratory: through them, one can see how the composition was born, how the artist searched for pose, rhythm, mood, and the detachment of the image. A separate section is dedicated to sketches for monumental murals. They clearly show the desire to go beyond the canvas and approach the synthesis of arts, where painting could exist alongside architecture, interior design, and life itself. The project includes over 140 works from 20 museums and private collections. Among them are "Self-Portrait with Sister," "Tapestry," "Emerald Necklace," "Portrait of a Lady," and "Autumn."
