The large-scale exhibition introduces the work of one of the main Russian portraitists of the 19th century and showcases rare works from the largest museum collections in the country. Visitors can trace the artist's journey from early experiments to mature canvases. The exhibition features paintings and rare graphic works by Vasily Tropinin. It occupies 10 halls and becomes one of the most comprehensive retrospectives of the artist in recent decades. Here, paintings from the collections of the Russian Museum, the State Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery, and other major institutions are presented. The project highlights an important research discovery: thanks to archival materials and an inscription on the gravestone, the true year of the master's birth has been clarified - 1780.
