About

The painting project by Elena Podkorytova connects historical portraiture with urban landscapes. The first part of the exhibition is about people whose names are woven into the history of the country. The artist constructs the painting like a director staging a scene: the cut of the costume, the gaze, the object in hand, the pose, even what happens in the background is important. You look at the canvas and involuntarily complete the narrative, as if you caught a moment between the actions of a play. The second part shifts the focus from people to cities. Here are the Tsarsky Bridge in Yekaterinburg and the house of merchant Gromazov in Nevyansk, places that many pass by every day without thinking, but on the canvas, they receive a different perspective and depth. Elena Podkorytova has been showcasing her works since 2000, her paintings are kept in the Vysotsky Museum in Yekaterinburg and in the Roman Santuario Dell'Amor Divino, as well as in private collections in Italy, the USA, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, England, Israel, and Germany.
