The exhibition brings together rare works from several generations of a renowned artistic dynasty. The circus theme is revealed through graphics, porcelain, book illustrations, and multimedia experiments. At the center of the exhibition are over 200 works from the creative dynasty for whom the circus has been a constant source of imagery. Early drawings made by Alexander Traugot directly in the arena in the 1940s preserve the nerve of a bygone era: here, not the grand performances, but the artist's live observation of the movements of the performers can be seen. Another important layer consists of porcelain sculptures from the 1950s. Among the characters are recognizable figures from the circus scene, including the clown Karandash and Oleg Popov. The form was conceived by Alexander, while his brother Valery handled the decorative painting. A large section is dedicated to book graphics. Circus motifs transition from unpublished linocuts to works related to the creations of Samuil Marshak, Hans Christian Andersen, and Elena Krzhizhanovskaya. Special attention is given to the surviving sketches for the book "Circus": the finished originals disappeared on the way to the publisher, and these sheets remain a rare testament to the concept. The brothers and their father Georgy Traugot participated in the design. The exhibition is complemented by interview films and an interactive installation with circular projection.
