The exhibition is dedicated to the people who made the Russian North a part of the spiritual and historical landscape of the country. Through icons, paintings, and church relics, the project shows how faith and enlightenment changed the lives of entire regions. The exhibition addresses figures whose activities influenced the fate of northern lands and the formation of Russian church and state traditions. The focus is on the path of Saint Stephen of Perm. Separate sections tell about the emergence of monasteries in the North and Northwest of Rus and the people who were at their origins. It is particularly clear here that the monasteries were not only religious centers. They participated in the economic development of the region, supported cultural life, and strengthened ties between distant lands. The exhibition includes icons, easel paintings and graphics, liturgical utensils, elements of vestments, and photographs. Each of these exhibits helps to view the history of the Russian North as a living process in which faith, enlightenment, and creation have gone hand in hand for centuries.
