In the Manege of Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, sacred sculptures from the entire region have been gathered for the first time - 47 items from the museums of Arzamas, Gorodets, Balakhna, and Vetluga. Before the exhibition, each piece underwent professional restoration at the Grabar Center, so many of them can be seen in this condition for the first time. The exhibition features rare items: a painted wooden figure of Nicholas of Mozhaysk, which specialists date to the 17th century, a large crucifix with figures of the forebears, dated to the mid-18th century, and fragments of iconostases - cherubs, angels, and apostles from the Arzamas Alexeyevsky Monastery. At the exhibition, visitors can learn where these sculptures originally stood and how they were created - the display is complemented by a multimedia narrative about the history of church restorations in the region.
