Perm artist Sergei Kazakov-Podkin shares childhood memories and invites viewers to touch our collective memory. The works of Sergei Kazakov-Podkin, like snapshots from an old photo album, transport us to our shared Soviet past. Some remember that time personally, while others are familiar with it through stories from parents, grandparents, films, and photographs. The artist is concerned with memories and how they influence everything that surrounds us today. The exhibition consists of two parts. The first is dedicated to themes and events that even an unprepared viewer will recognize immediately. This includes, for example, Yuri Gagarin's flight into space or the emblem of the legendary Mosfilm studio. An old television serves as a guide to the familiar childhood stories, around which families and the entire country gathered. The artist has managed to convey the era so expressively that it is felt almost on a physical level. The second part of the exhibition, industrial-urban, continues the line presented by the artist in 2023 at his first Moscow exhibition "Arteries of the City." The paintings capture modern urban landscapes, integrated with images from the past. According to the artist, rusted and broken Soviet cars and airplanes in the midst of modern reality symbolize memory and our relationship to it. Details can be found on the official website.
