The exhibition presents works by four generations of the outstanding St. Petersburg dynasty of glass artists - Alexander, Galina, and Irina Ivanov, as well as Ekaterina Stolyarova. Each of them has a unique artistic language, but they are all united by a deep knowledge of the craft, respect for traditions, and a pursuit of perfection. Alexander and Galina Ivanov were the first studio glass artists in the USSR. Their workshop, established in 1971, became the foundation for unique authorial works and mass-produced samples. Alexander Ivanov (1944-2011), Honored Artist of Russia, worked at the intersection of philosophy and technology, his compositions are imbued with images of nature and St. Petersburg. Galina Ivanova experiments with the gutta technique, grinding, and fusing, creating concise yet richly colored and plastic forms. Irina Ivanova is a rare master of deep glass engraving. She combines sculptural expressiveness with precision in details. Ekaterina Stolyarova, continuing the family tradition, confidently works with fusing, molding, and engraving, drawing inspiration from antiquity, nature, and myths.
