About

In the Large Exhibition Hall of the "Hermitage-Ural" Center, Soviet life comes to life through the eyes of Arkady Petrov. On the walls are bright, sometimes funny and touching details of the era that the artist remembers from his childhood in a mining village "at the edge of the world." Here are 128 works from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Voronezh: painting and sculpture, from early works like "The Factory" and "Shift" to modern pieces like "Color Mood" and "Healing." The focus is on figures of men and women, grim miners and slender beauties, Soviet holidays, palm-lined beaches, propaganda posters, and advertising signs that turn into a living chronicle of everyday life. The sections of the exhibition seem to unfold a memory album: from personal letters and photographs to triptychs with red stars and Soviet slogans. Each work is not only a look at the past but also an attempt to piece together the details of everyday life, its colors, smells, and moods. In these paintings, one can hear accordions, smell lilacs and fresh paint, and the images, both familiar and strange at the same time, linger in memory for a long time. Where to go in Yekaterinburg, KudaGo knows.
