Artifacts from different eras come together to tell the story of the relationship between humans and this animal. Here, the cat becomes a guide between cultures and centuries. One of the items is related to the late period of ancient Egyptian history. A bronze cat head reminds us of a time when these animals were revered for their practical benefits and associated with divine powers. They protected grain from rodents, safeguarded homes from snakes and scorpions, and in religious consciousness, they were linked to Bastet - the protector of home and fertility. Another highlight is a crystal sculpture of a sitting cat from China. The internal inclusions in the stone give a soft iridescent glow, making the piece seem alive and ever-changing. The final point is a graphic work by Yu Min Sok. The modern image continues the conversation about why people strive to preserve the memory of cats in art. Curator Maria Haltunen weaves these different meanings into a narrative about friendship, observation, and the quiet presence of animals alongside humans.
