About

The exhibition tells about an ancient craft that has managed to survive through changing eras and regain its voice in our days. The focus is on Abramtsovo-Kudrin carving, where wood transforms into an ornamental world filled with birds, leaves, and scrolls. The exhibition is dedicated to Abramtsovo-Kudrin carving - an expressive direction of Russian decorative and applied art. This craft grew at the intersection of artistic experimentation, craft school, and a living tradition passed down by masters for decades. Its recognizable language developed gradually, combining the plasticity of plant ornamentation, the delicacy of handwork, and a love for the wooden material. The history of this direction is closely linked to the Moscow region's Abramtsovo and the name of Vasily Vornokov, who first made "curly" plant motifs the basis of a new artistic style. Later, the craft went through hard times and nearly disappeared with the closure of the factory. However, after years, it was brought back to life thanks to the efforts of masters and enthusiasts. The exhibition features works by contemporary artists from Khotkovo - pieces in which the ancient technique sounds fresh and convincing. The exhibition can be seen at the café "17 75", located in the Small Palace of Tsaritsyno.
