About

The metro here is not a transport scheme, but a source of inspiration for artists. In painting and graphics, participants show the city where people usually wait for the train. Over the past two years, exhibitions and workshops have taken place in the Moscow metro. Participants painted at "Revolution Square," observed the light at "Kievskaya," and made portraits of passersby at "Mayakovskaya." Some locations were organized in the train movement zone during non-working hours, so the familiar underground space opened up from an unusual side - almost without hustle, in a different acoustics and scale. The exhibition features paintings and graphic works created as part of this initiative. In them, the metro appears as an independent urban character: solemn, noisy, nocturnal, digital, sometimes intimate. The architecture of Stalinist Empire style, reflections of chandeliers, tunnels, train drivers, and random passengers come together in a visual diary of the capital. Among the authors are Nikolai Bazunov, Ekaterina Bulgakova, Inna Volvak, Ekaterina Gavrilova, Anna Dobrovan, Elena Lobova, Irina Ostapenko, Maria Uryvskaya, and other project participants. On KUDAGO, we tell about interesting exhibitions in Moscow.
