About

The project showcases the city of Fyodor Dostoevsky through courtyards, drinking spots, corners of old neighborhoods, and outskirts. In the frames, literary memory meets modern St. Petersburg, where dark beauty hides in the details. The starting points were "Crime and Punishment," "White Nights," and "Petersburg Dreams in Verse and Prose." However, the photographs do not turn literature into a set of recognizable illustrations. Rather, they seek that nervous urban intonation that Fyodor Dostoevsky wrote about: sharpness, closeness, the strange pressure of the environment on a person, the feeling of a city that is both real and almost ghostly. In Timur Egorov's frames, courtyards, facades, the space around Sennaya Square and Five Corners are captured, alongside the urban outskirts with new buildings and signs of today.
