The exhibition introduces the works of two contemporary ceramicists whose creations have grown from the traditions of the Abramtsevo and Moscow schools. The focus is on the plasticity of form, a rich color palette, and textures that convey the living energy of the material. At the heart of this exhibition is the work of the married couple of masters Alexey Illarionov and Alexandra Tikhonenko, who operate at the intersection of craft tradition and personal expression. Their ceramics are connected to the Khotkovo school, where ancient pottery heritage coexists with the experience of the Abramtsevo workshop, which played a significant role in the development of Russian decorative art. This is why the presented works naturally combine attention to form, love for ornamentation, and a desire for free artistic exploration. The exhibition features about 70 works created over more than two decades. Here you can see ceramic sculptures, wall reliefs, and panels with vibrant narrative painting. Each piece has its own character: some items lean towards intimate plasticity, while others are built on expressive decorative gestures, color play, and surface. Particular interest is drawn to works created using wood firing. This technique is associated with experimentation and always leaves room for unexpected results: the flame, temperature, and glaze characteristics form a complex texture that literally retains the trace of the process.
