About

The exhibition reveals the splendor of Bukhara's court culture through items created for the emir and his entourage. Gold embroidery, silver with enamels, and ceremonial weapons show how craftsmanship became a language of power, taste, and diplomacy. Embroiderers, jewelers, and gunsmiths transformed fabric, metal, enamel, and precious embellishments into signs of high status. Ceremonial belts, costume details, silverware, and weapons are perceived as testimonies to strict etiquette, taste, and court representation. Particular interest lies in the combination of local artistic tradition and diplomatic history. Alongside works by Bukhara masters, items created by Russian craftsmen as gifts to the emir from the Turkestan administration are presented. Thus, the exhibition showcases cultural exchange, where the item became a message, a sign of respect, and part of politics. Sharing ideas on where to go in St. Petersburg this weekend.
