Andrei Kuzkin's project explores the state of "between" - when a person simultaneously strives to escape and remains connected to reality. The artist's new works come together in a reflection on the body, time, and the attempt to break free from the pressure of the outside world. The exhibition unites works from recent years created during the European period and returns the author to the series "Cards," which began back in 2009. At its core is a system of emotional perception of numbers developed by the artist - a kind of personal code in which numbers become carriers of experiences and associations. The works assembled in the technique of assemblage create a field of quasi-scientific order, where the rational intertwines with the subjective. In contrast to this intellectual layer are sculptures and reliefs made from bread dough and earth - materials directly related to corporeality and vulnerability. Bread in Kuzkin's practice becomes a metaphor for living flesh, subject to time and destruction. Earth returns to the theme of finiteness and fragility of existence. The central focus is a fragment of the documentation of the performance "The Phenomenon of Nature or 99 Landscapes with a Tree." The author's figure becomes a connecting element of different media - graphics, sculpture, installation. The internal conflict between the desire for escapism and the impossibility of completely disappearing from reality runs through the entire project, turning it into a reflection on the boundary between personal refuge and the outside world.
