A large retrospective introduces the paintings of Natella Toidze, for whom the live impression from nature remains decisive. In one space, works created by Natella Toidze from the mid-1960s to the present day are collected. Canvases, graphics, monotypes, and sketches show how the author’s language has changed while remaining true to nature and a living view of the world. Large canvases are created en plein air, under the open sky. The artist responds to the state of the day: the humid air of the spring forest, the heavy snow on the branches, the transparent shadow of blooming bushes. Small fragments of a summer cottage and garden thickets turn into reflections on light and color. From intimate nature studies, the viewer transitions to landscape-states and allegorical compositions. Figures and hints of mythological themes appear in them, an interest in symbols and the inner movement of form. An important part of the exhibition is related to family history: a separate hall is dedicated to the artistic dynasty of Toidze. Where to go in Moscow is known by KUDAGO.
