The photo exhibition addresses a protected area in the southern Far East - a space where ocean currents create one of the richest ecosystems in the country. In focus are the underwater depths, island colonies of birds, and rare sightings of the Far Eastern leopard at the shoreline. There are places where the sense of boundary almost disappears. In the waters of Peter the Great Bay, water and land exist as a single system. The cold Primorsky current and the warm Tsushima current create a complex natural dynamic, thanks to which more than 5600 species of living organisms are concentrated here. Almost two thousand of them are related to the underwater world - an environment hidden from everyday view. The photographs capture the very structure of life. Rocky coastal areas become resting places for the largha seal. Furugelm Island transforms into a densely populated space where the yellow-billed heron and the little egret nest. Underwater, a different scale unfolds: the Far Eastern sea cucumber, dogfish, spiny dogfish, as well as a giant octopus weighing up to fifty kilograms and with tentacle spans of up to ten meters. A special line is connected to a terrestrial predator. The marine reserve and the national park "Leopard Land" are managed by the same administration, emphasizing the integrity of the territory. The Far Eastern leopard, whose population is currently estimated at about 120 individuals, is gradually returning to the coast. One of the presented photographs shows it against the backdrop of the sea - a rare testament to the recovery of the species. The authors of the works are employees of the reserve Alexander Ratnikov, Daniil Goncharov, Ivan Rakov, as well as wildlife photographers Andrey Shpatak and Sergey Gorshkov. The project is timed to coincide with World Water Day and reminds us of the fragility of natural connections, where every current, every island, and every species form a complex yet vulnerable system.
