About

What did the city that inspired Alexander Pushkin look like? The exhibition connects works of art, rare documents, and museum exhibits to showcase Petersburg in the first half of the 19th century from a new perspective. The exhibition introduces the appearance of the northern capital during the time of Alexander Pushkin. Visitors will see about 60 exhibits from the collection of the All-Russian Museum of Pushkin, as well as items provided by project partners. The halls feature paintings, graphic sheets, books, sculptural works, models of crossings, and archival materials. The first part is dedicated to the city’s bridges, which entered history thanks to literature and events of the Pushkin era. Images by famous artists of the 19th and 20th centuries convey different states of Petersburg-from bright white nights to harsh winters. The second part focuses on the crossings over the Neva and the architectural symbols of the city. Here, works are presented in which the image of Pushkin is inextricably linked to the Petersburg landscape, emphasizing a special connection to the city. Interesting exhibitions in St. Petersburg can be found on KUDAGO.
