About

From the storage in St. Petersburg, a carriage over two hundred years old will arrive in Yekaterinburg - and it still knows how to play music. In the exhibition space of the city museum of fine arts, an item from the Hermitage collection will be showcased - a carriage crafted by a serf artisan from one of the Ural factories, Yegor Kuznetsov-Zhepin, a serf from the Vysky factory who mastered metalworking in the 18th century and became an inventor. The drozhki is not just an antique carriage: inside are hidden two mechanisms - a distance meter that counts the traveled distance and an organ capable of playing six melodies. In 1801, Kuznetsov-Zhepin personally presented his creation to the dowager empress Maria Feodorovna in Moscow. In addition to the mechanics, there is much to see: the carriage was painted by the Nizhny Tagil artist Sidor Dubasnikov - in oil on iron. Thirteen medallions with landscapes, hunting and gallant scenes, and under the dial - a portrait of Kuznetsov-Zhepin himself with a watch in hand. Where to go in Yekaterinburg is known by KudaGo.
