The exhibition introduces the master of Russian luminescence and shows how sunlight, snow, water, and air transform into an independent artistic narrative. At the center of the project are over 50 paintings from private collections, allowing a fresh look at the legacy of an artist whose name has long remained in the shadows. His contemporaries compared the power of light effects to the discoveries of Arkhip Kuindzhi, while European researchers were amazed by the brightness of the painting. Ivan Shultze did not come to art immediately. Before seriously engaging in painting, he worked as an electrical engineer, participated in the construction of a hydroelectric power station, and only later showed his sketches to Konstantin Kryzhitsky. He saw great talent in the budding artist and invited him to study at the Imperial Academy of Arts. In the artist's paintings, light sets the mood and builds the composition. Russian expanses, European villages, sea sunsets, lakes, and snow unfold through subtle transitions of color, transparency of air, and a sense of almost otherworldly silence.
