Summer for Sasha Sokolova does not look like a postcard from vacation. In her paintings, there is the heat of skin, light on the sand, a heavy sky over the beach, and a moment when carefreeness coexists with anxiety. The artist works in oil and watercolor, combining realistic precision with reflections on corporeality, nature, and the fragility of the present. The series "Sunny Gods" shifts the gaze to the southern shore before the storm. The low horizon makes human figures almost monumental, while details - skin, sand, waves, reflections - gather the feeling of dense, hot air.
