The exhibition at the Central Naval Museum brings to life the history of "Lefort" through underwater finds, paintings, and marine installations. It is a story of tragedy, oblivion, and a return to light after 150 years of silence. In the exhibition hall of the Central Naval Museum, an exposition dedicated to the line sailing ship "Lefort" has opened - a ship that tragically sank into the sea in the autumn of 1857. During those fateful hours in a storm, more than eight hundred people perished. For a century and a half, the fate of the vessel remained one of the murkiest pages in naval history. Only in 2013 did participants of the Reconnaissance-Diving Club expedition discover the wreckage at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland near the island of Bolshoy Tyuters. The sailing ship was remarkably well-preserved, as if waiting for its moment. To explore the remains, divers made more than a dozen complex dives to depths of up to 70 meters. The materials found helped not only to reconstruct the circumstances of the disaster but also to return the ship to historical memory. The exhibition "Lefort. Return of the Baltic Legend" is a complete underwater tale. The exposition includes 52 items: ship models, marine memorabilia, installations made from cannons, ropes, and anchors, creating a sense of the sea floor. Works by artists are also presented - from the classics of Aivazovsky to modern marine artists.
