Once, they set the rhythm of country life, preserved family chronicles, tastes of the era, and habits of generations, but many later found themselves in ruins or on the brink of extinction. In the works of artists and craftsmen, the manor appears as a space capable of coming back to life. This is about old houses from the 17th to 19th centuries and the people who take on the task of restoring them. Architects, restorers, artists, and enthusiasts give meaning back to the manors: they transform ruined buildings into museums, educational venues, and cultural centers that people want to visit again. In the halls, paintings, photographs, and rare items of decorative applied art come together. Some works document losses so that the memory of them does not dissolve completely, while others show the revival that has already begun.
