The project is dedicated to a rare phenomenon in Russian porcelain at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, where artistic painting is based on strict botanical science. The ceremonial vases are revealed as a result of the union of art, nature research, and modern aesthetics. The exhibition introduces ceremonial porcelain vases from the late 19th to early 20th century, decorated not with conventional floral motifs, but with scientifically accurate depictions of plants. Before the viewer is a rare example in decorative applied art, where artistic expressiveness is built on academic accuracy and working with live nature. The tradition of referring to botanical sources has developed over centuries: illustrations from atlases long defined the language of porcelain painting in Europe. However, at the turn of the century, a qualitative shift occurs - artisans abandon copying and create original compositions, working in collaboration with plant scientists. Each flower is rendered with maximum precision, yet included in the imagery of the modern era with its flowing lines and decorative richness. The project features over sixty works, many of which are being displayed and published for the first time. The works of leading artists of the factory allow us to see the individual style of each author and trace how scientific knowledge transforms into artistic imagery. The display is complemented by archival black-and-white photographs that reveal the scale and complexity of the paintings.
