At the "Semyonovskaya" library, graphic posters about urban sculpture turn into an honest and visual conversation about the fragility of monuments. The finalists of the competition show how familiar gestures like touches and photos on pedestals gradually erase the details of beloved monuments and require conscious, careful treatment. The exhibition project within the walls of the "Semyonovskaya" library grew out of a collaboration between the State Museum of Urban Sculpture and the MCB named after M. Yu. Lermontov. Works by the finalists of the graphic poster competition dedicated to caring for urban monuments, memorial plaques, and monumental-decorative objects were selected for display. Instead of long texts, bright, easily readable images appear before the viewer, speaking about the everyday habits of city dwellers in a clear visual language. The exhibition raises the theme of the fragility of the materials from which bronze and stone figures are created. The organizers remind us that what is usually perceived as eternal and unchanging is, in fact, sensitive to moisture, salts, temperature fluctuations, and constant touches. The posters humorously, sometimes harshly, depict the gestures of tourists and city residents-rubbing details "for luck," sitting on pedestals, climbing sculptures for social media shots. The key task of the project is to make the invisible work of restorers noticeable and understandable to a wide audience. The Museum of Urban Sculpture keeps thousands of objects in its collection in the urban environment, and specialists deal daily with micro-cracks, loss of patina layer, and surface deformations. The posters capture these issues in the format of simple visual stories and lead the viewer to the thought that every action, even the most harmless, leaves a mark and affects the preservation of cultural heritage.
