About

The festival explores typography as an independent artistic language and unites different generations of authors. The exhibition shows how the letter transforms into an independent visual tool and becomes the basis for a conversation about the future of the Russian poster. The festival is dedicated to typography and graphic design and is conceived as a platform for discussing the visual language of type. The focus is on the poster, where the letter ceases to be a functional sign and begins to work as a full-fledged artistic image. Here, the drawing, rhythm, scale, composition, and texture are important, and each element influences the tone of the statement. The foundation of the project is a large exhibition featuring over 300 posters. It showcases the entire range of the genre-from classic solutions to typographic and graphic experiments. The space is divided into five sections. One section is dedicated to young authors, another to typography in motion, the third unites children's works, the fourth presents long-term experiments of the «Poster Laboratory», and the final one addresses international masters whose names have defined the direction of modern graphic design. The project raises questions about the contemporary Russian school of the poster. The country has a strong tradition-from constructivism to the authorial practices of recent decades-however, a cohesive professional community around typographic posters has yet to form. Here, this topic is proposed for serious discussion: through the exhibition, competition, and meetings with designers, artists, and type specialists. Find other events in Moscow on KUDAGO.
