The anniversary exhibition of Fyodor Vasilyev presents about 100 paintings and graphic works by the master, including both widely known canvases and rare pieces from museum collections and private collections. Fyodor Vasilyev (1850-1873) lived only 23 years but left a significant mark in the history of Russian art. His name stands alongside Alexei Savrasov, Ivan Shishkin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, and Isaac Levitan. Without academic education, he managed to create a new direction in landscape painting, making it more lyrical and poetic. The artist looked at the depiction of nature in a new way, combining the achievements of European masters with the traditions of the Russian school. Vasilyev's paintings are characterized by delicate color and attention to the states of nature. Among the key works of the master are "After the Rain. Country Road", "View on the Volga. Barges", "Swamp in the Forest. Autumn", "Wet Meadow". The exhibition is dedicated to the artist's anniversary and will be the second major retrospective of the author in the history of the museum. The exhibition includes about 100 paintings and graphic works. The foundation consists of works from the collections of the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as exhibits from regional museums and private collections.
