Architectural graphics reveal the history of the palace through drawings, facades, and details of architectural decor. The exhibition shows how the appearance of the residence has changed and what traces of different eras have been preserved in its layout. The project opens a cycle dedicated to the history of the construction of the Gatchina Palace and its architectural transformations. The main character here is the building itself: a hunting castle that has adapted over time to new tasks, tastes, and needs of the imperial court. In the spotlight are the facades, plans, and materials that allow us to trace how the external appearance of the residence has changed. Visitors will see a drawing from the early 1790s - a plan of the first floor, capturing the layout of the palace before a major reconstruction. Interactive elements provide the opportunity to examine digital copies of drawings from the 18th century and the mid-19th century. This allows for comparisons of different versions of the layout, to see changes in the facades, and to better understand how architects worked with the existing volume. Showcases present fragments of architectural decoration and samples of building materials - natural stone, various types of bricks.
